Can I simply delete my photos after putting them onto an external hard drive?

I just purchased an portable hard drive (Western Digital, My Passport, 250 GB). I have never used one of these things, and it came without many instructions. Is it really that simple? I dragged 'My Photos' folder into the 'My passport' icon on 'my computer' it took a while because I have thousands of pictures. Can I delete them from my computer now?

Yes you can delete external hard drive live big pen drive you can simply attach to your pc and do any things copy, paste, cut no problem.
Reply:Yep... go to Start. My computer. After going to My Computer, you will see a list of items stating 'removable disc' etc, once you see one or a thing stating the letter J, click on this and it will take you to all photos uploaded from a source or outside source (such as camera, etc) and let you delete those photos completely or in general. Hope this helps.
Reply:yes but disconnect the hard drive first, last time i erased my pics for some reason it also erased the pics on the hard drive and the same thing happend with my music so just to be on the safe side disconnect it then delete them.
