Some inter and sis motherboards have this unique problem of freezing up due to their power regulator chip failures..in such a scenario i might suggest get your motherboard checked and if required replaced to solve your problem. Try using some benchmark softwares on your pc..they might be able to point the problem out.!

You can%26#039;t do better than get into the right (perhaps old fashioned habits) of turning on and off properly and then turning off at the mains - think energy conservation but more importantly think safety!!

I have an Asus F8Sr laptop that I bought about two weeks ago. I tried to install Visual Studio 2005 into my Vista OS. It turns out that Visual Studio 2005 isn%26#039;t compatible with Vista. So I tried rolling back the installation to no avail. Finally, I resorted to using the recovery disk that was bundled with my laptop to fix the problem. It recovered my system but I cannot play games anymore because there is something wrong with my windows experience index. To think that my current specs are Core2Duo T8100, 3GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2400. I tried installing a fresh copy of Vista, not the recovery version. After installation, it gives an error window that says %26quot;Cannot find recovery.dat%26quot;. I tried everything to make my games work (also windows aero). I believe that the reason why there is an error in my system is because of the hidden recovery partition. Can anyone help me with my problem?

The warranty valid for hardware not the software. They can fix it for you, but probably you have to pay for them. My suggestion is use XP Pro with Service Pack 3. Vista is dead end!!

I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 a week ago and the cd rom drive worked fine until today. Whenever I insert a cd or dvd, it says %26quot;Insert a disc.%26quot; I don%26#039;t know what the problem is. I checked the device and it said it was fine.

HP compaq don%26#039;t have XP drivers and the sound card isn%26#039;t recognised by XP or a Utility driver disk that contains 50000 XP drivers. if its got a brand it cant really be called %26quot;good%26quot; these companies mass produce their products with cheap parts and when it comes to your computer not being up to scratch they can be nearly impossible to upgrade. self built is best, if your not confident, by all means go for a brand, I would recommend dell, only because they are quite large and have a good returns policy etc. as well as you can buy from them direct, if youve won the lottery, look up voodoo custom pc, not so cheap parts, amazing machines, but costs an absolute fortune.

If its a PS2 mouse (the green adapter at the end) you have to plug it in then restart your computer as its not plug and play, but if its a USB then it should work straight away as that is plug and play.

Reply:its more than likely that your mouse is broken. plug a new one in and make sure its the correct port on the back of your pc and re-boot the pc it should then work.
ps just thought, make sure you have the plug lined up correctly when you plug the mouse in as you can easily damage the pins.

My Laptop is a mess with adware and funny probems constanty happening i have rebooted my whole laptop and installed Norton 2008 and did a full scan and found 11 problems and as it seems it is blocking some things but some times my start screen doesnt even load my desktop items dont show up the my whole laptop crashes i am also getting adware and loads of pop ups i dont want to download any thing that is not going to work i need something that will get rid of these problems faster than ever i sometimes cant even load up my internet which is a massive pain in the *** Please help. Just get a laptop with 2gb ram and if possible get a dual-core processor. These two are easily available under 40-50k and it would be sufficient. Vista works great if you have both of these so it wont be any problem. Otherwise Xp is great anyways.

If you wish to load XP, 1st you have to take a recovery of your present vista preloaded copy and then you have to format it for loading XP.
without taking backup plz dont format again you dont get VISTA (else you have to pay Rs. 7000/- for vista).
so make shure you dont format until you take recovery disks (2 DVDS) are required for vista backup.

It is unlikely you have deleted the account as it would not let you. To do it you would have to be logged in as as an administrator which would therefore leave you with a working admin account (the one you used to delete the administrator account). Also in some operating system versions you can%26#039;t even access the administrator account for security reasons. (Mainly Vista or networked XP on a domain)
It is more likely you deleted the files assoicated with the admin account? (Though again unless you are using an admin account you would not get access or permissions to do it)
What OS are you using? Vista or XP.
If you deleted the files check the recycle bin?
Go to start, control panel, users and create a new account with admin rights if needed. While in the users section it will list all the accounts you have active, one should be administrator, though only if you have the admin rights to see it.
Failing that boot into safe mode. Reboot the PC and press F8 while it%26#039;s loading up (usually just before the scolling bar screen) till you get a list of commands, one of which is safe mode. That will let you log in as administrator and that will also recreate the document folders you might have lost. (Safe mode has limited functions so limit what you do in there)
Not sure what extra help to offer without knowing more about it. Your laptop come with a recovery disk from the makers?

Win Xp has to have 1 active admin account, so if you don%26#039;t have it .. someone else has .
Just to make sure have a look at the user accounts in the control panel folder just to see if you have deleted this account and to see who has the remanding admin account.
Get the remanding administrator to upgrade your account to the same level .. and this should help or fix your problem

To do it you would have to be logged in as as an administrator which would therefore leave you with a working admin account (the one you used to delete the administrator account). Also in some operating system versions you can%26#039;t even access the administrator account for security reasons. (Mainly Vista or networked XP on a domain)
It is more likely you deleted the files assoicated with the admin account? (Though again unless you are using an admin account you would not get access or permissions to do it)
What OS are you using? Vista or XP.
If you deleted the files check the recycle bin?
Go to start, control panel, users and create a new account with admin rights if needed. While in the users section it will list all the accounts you have active, one should be administrator, though only if you have the admin rights to see it.
Failing that boot into safe mode. Reboot the PC and press F8 while it%26#039;s loading up (usually just before the scolling bar screen) till you get a list of commands, one of which is safe mode. That will let you log in as administrator and that will also recreate the document folders you might have lost. (Safe mode has limited functions so limit what you do in there)
Not sure what extra help to offer without knowing more about it. Your laptop come with a recovery disk from the makers?

Win Xp has to have 1 active admin account, so if you don%26#039;t have it .. someone else has .
Just to make sure have a look at the user accounts in the control panel folder just to see if you have deleted this account and to see who has the remanding admin account.
Get the remanding administrator to upgrade your account to the same level .. and this should help or fix your problem

Reply:It sounds like your computer has a traker virus, don%26#039;t do any banking or anything that people could track before you sort it. Try downloading a spybot from the net this should identify the problem and try and fix it. If you havn%26#039;t got any viruses it may be you have too many files on your comad its making it run slow, you can defragment it or buy an external hard drive to store your files on.

My computer turns on but doesn't boot and the monitor doesn't turn on?
I think i may have some kind of virus on my computer.
At first it started out with just the screen flashing, but now it has gotten worse. When I turn the computer on the green and red lights on the box (tower) stay on constantly and the monitor does not turn on, even for a second. So i cant see the first bit of startup on the screen (or anything for a matter of fact).
I am (was) running Windows XP with service pack 3.

Unfortunately the largest battery Dell sells for their machines is a 9 cell and even it doesn%26#039;t last as long as the durational rating Dell says. Vista and other graphic intensive programs chew up battery power quickly, generally the battery will last less than half of its listed rating.

My laptop Dell Latitude D620 was and still is working perfectaly fine...until last night...I was watching a DVD and all of the sudden the sound started to break...like making a %26quot;scratch%26quot; sound...the image and everything else its perfect, the sound and music from the internet and files comes out perfect, its just when i play something in the dvd/cd drive....so i bought one of those Lense Cleaners....and i%26#039;ve being playing a several times already and you know they come with music and when starts playing i can hear the %26quot;scratchy-breaking%26quot; sound while the music starts playing and after a minute sounds good and clean...then I play a regular dvd/cd and the sounds keeps coming out %26quot;breaking-scratchy%26quot; again...

acer are reasonable, but to run cad and the like, you need to stop looking at brands per se and look at the graphics cards in the laptops, as well as the installed memory, something with an integrated nvidia 8800 would do the job (needs to have a fast processor too, but generally with a graphics card like that, it will be) reliable? most reliable computer on earth would be one that breaks down at the same time every day so you could plan your work around it, go for a company with a reliable return/repair/service. I%26#039;m not saying a lesser laptop wouldnt run the programs, but a laptop will never be the graphical powerhouse the equivolent desktop is, no matter what the hype. affordability and graphically intensive programs dont mix too well im afraid

acer are reasonable, but to run cad and the like, you need to stop looking at brands per se and look at the graphics cards in the laptops, as well as the installed memory, something with an integrated nvidia 8800 would do the job (needs to have a fast processor too, but generally with a graphics card like that, it will be) reliable? most reliable computer on earth would be one that breaks down at the same time every day so you could plan your work around it, go for a company with a reliable return/repair/service. I%26#039;m not saying a lesser laptop wouldnt run the programs, but a laptop will never be the graphical powerhouse the equivolent desktop is, no matter what the hype. affordability and graphically intensive programs dont mix too well im afraid

My laptop computer is stuck in a "logging out" mode...i am guessing this is a virus...how can i fix this??
Do you mean it keeps logging you out of your User?
If so then boot your computer into Safe Mode and rune full scans with your anti-virus (like AVG) and anti-spyware (like SpyBot - Search and Destroy)

this doesn%26#039;t sound like a virus. i highly recommend going to www.windowsupdate.com and check to see if there are any updates available.
when you go to this site install the activex plugins if it asks you to. also, when asks always choose %26quot;custom%26quot; and make sure that you select all available updates. then continue going back to that site even after rebooting to make sure that you get every possible update.
also make sure that you have an antivirus program running, updated, and scanning your computer regularly.
i highly recommend AVG Free as a good alternative if you have nothing right now. a free download can be found at free.grisoft.com.
most likely these things will keep your computer running smoothly and will even fix your problem.

1) you may loads of software installed onto it...that makes it very slow and it even has effect on your internet~so machine cannot bear such big loads while it allowes to work even....
2) your desktop would have loads of files on it....theres a limit of 50 files on it and that includes your software shortcuts, different folders and the basic my computer, documents and recycle bin...
As if it is the Vista OS then you can fix it using your recovery disc and re-format your laptop....so that brings it back as it was when you got it brand new....
After it starts working, I prefer run a monthly or weekly free online virus scan from the housecall65.trendmicro.com....
it depends on how much time you wanna spare on it as virus time depends number space you may have on your HDD...
generally its between 1 and 2 hrs....
hope it helps and you get your laptop back to normal....

Actually, I think the best bang for the buck right now is the EVGA 8800GS. Scores 5.8/5.9 on Vista Experience (big deal) and overclocks very nicely. I have several friends with the 8800GT (and beyond) who have been very impressed with this card. Avoid the 9XXX cards.
