My guess is a very dusty fan.

run a virus scan
Reply:maybe your computer just has a dusty fan or its haunted or someone was messing on your computer and added that sound when you do something as a joke
Reply:Sounds like a fan problem. Also sometimes a hard drive will make a racket. Is this a new computer?
Reply:This could be caused by several problems. A dirty fan for one. If you are somewhat capable shut down your computer, unplug it open your case and look for dust on the fan blades. Look especially on the fans on the main processor and on your video card if so equipped. If you see dust wipe it off with a slightly damp towel. Make sure it is completely rung out before you do this. Before you put the case back together turn the computer on and see if you can determine where the sound is coming from. Quite a few times the hard drive will try to spin up and then slow down real quick. If the sound is coming from the hard drive immediately once the computer boots back up your crucial important files as your drive is probably on the fringe of seeing the grim reaper. If your computer has slowed down any recently then this could be your culprit if it is making the noise.

Hope it is only dust on the blades, but if it is your drive hopefully you were able to back up your files in time. Wish you luck.
Reply:Sounds like a demon took over your computer.

Your only recourse would be getting a Computer Demon Exorcist.

I can expel the demon remotely after you paypal me 500$.

It could also just be the fan.
