I am getting ready to buy a new computer and I need some help.?

I am looking to purchase one from a store rather than from mail order because I am an instant gratification type of person. I don't want to spend more than $700.00 on a system, of course less is better. The only things I use a computer for is surfing the net, syncing MP3 players and playing ALL my Sims 2 games. My current PC can't handle the games too well. In addition to those things I would also like to be able to burn DVD's as my current PC is not equiped with a DVD burner. So that being said, what kind of systems do you suggest and where can I find it.

CIRCUIT CITY

(Let me say I agree with these guys, just update your pc you have now cause your going to get vista if you get a new pc...I have vista, it's like rolling a dice when you buy a new game...

You never know if it will work and freakin vista eats half your memory anyway!!!)

STAY WITH XP And just upgrade your pc, you just prob need a better video card and more ram, which cost way under 700 for a GREAT video card and 4gb ram, that will run the sims 2 great

Bad CPU but ti wud do everything you want lol
Reply:also Best Buy.

I've seen a cool (in all terms) HP.

Very small CPU tower, AMD X2 5600+ or so (very fast CPU)

Silent and low power, 4 Gig Ram, 500GB HDD.

Dont remember model, but its the only one in small factor.
Reply:Sims 2 could cost you extra 100$'s just for it to run smoothly with good graphics just tell the place you get it that your looking to play games and gaming pc's are the best anyways
Reply:Thats a pretty basic computer these days mate, Go into a good eletric store and they will be able to help, You will be get a good one at that price minus monitor
Reply:you could just add a dvd burner and more memory to your current computer. Buy an external dvd burner. With adding the memory, people in stores will help you! And you won't have to buy a new computer =)

or buy a new computer, don't go to best buy! that's all I say!

and MACS are the best computers, seriously. But you can't get one for 700, unless you get a refurbished one.
Reply:You just need to find a local computer shop to build you a computer. I can't really tell you what to buy on a budget of $700, but I can tell you what to stay away from.. Stay away from anything that says Celeron and stay away from Vista. Good luck.
Reply:you dont need to buy a new set of computer... just update your current PC... thats all i can suggest to you if u dont like to spend much....
Reply:Hi, i would suggest before purchasing a new pc, contact a pc vendor and tell him what you want from pc.

it is better to reconfigure your pc with new hardware %26amp; software tools then a new pc.
Reply:Try to assemble the system with some basic components that support your activities.

1GB ram, Intel Dual core, TFT Monitor, DVD Burner , 2 speaker music system with a sub woofer and a web cam should not cost you more.
Reply:I would suggest this Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop:

Configure it with E2200 2.2ghz dual core CPU and 2gb memory, 250gb hdd, Intel onboard graphics, 19" monitor. As for the gaming, buying a graphics card from dell is a ripoff for a bad card. Don't bother for upgraded vista versions. Too bad it doesn't come with XP.

A Sapphire Radeon HD 2600XT will serve you well and play just about any game (though a few new UBER intense 3d games like Crysis will push it to the limit). If you deviate from this card, make sure you get the GDDR3 version, or you will get a significant performance hit. The GeForce 8600GT is pretty similar but a lil more expensive and a lil better. Again, get the GDDR3 version, forget how much memory.

Pretty much you just shut down, pop the case open, stick the card in the slot, boot up, and download and install new Catalyst drivers from ATi's web site.

I think that's a pretty good deal and should be ideal for pretty much any app you want to do.
Reply:play games , burn dvds,

destop will burn dvd faster rather than burn in laptop...and it runs faster either u wanna play game or not...

best buy / circuitcity these two place are top choice to buy around ,,,u dont like it change it over but dont forgot in 2 weeks.

ps( i have burn dvds for long time ago but i know last time i do it i spend over 1hr- 2hr at laptop ... only less than half hr in destop...)
