Is there a significant difference betweena processor with 2.5GHz 6MB L2 cache, and 2.1 GHz 3MB L2 cache?

I am buying a gateway tablet, and I am trying to configure the processor before I purchase it. It costs $162.00 to upgrade from the 2.1GHz to the 2.5 GHz. Is this a good deal? Also, please explain what cache is and if there is much difference between the 6MB and 3MB cache.

Thanks

The 2.5 is 20% faster. Depending on what you do on it makes the difference. If you are gonna web surf or do a word document then the difference in price probably isnt worth it. If you are gonna do video or play games then get the faster one.

Yes, the 2.5 GHz/6MB one will be quite a bit faster. Cache is temporary, fast storage for the processor. The more you have, the more your processor can have data that is quickly available within arm's reach (its cache) as opposed to going in the other room to get it (RAM/hard drive).

$162 is not a great deal though. It's probably average. But if you've got the money, I would definitely recommend the upgrade.
