Yes you can
Can you put the lid down on a laptop with it all switched on?
You CAN, but what happens when you do that depends on the laptop. Most of them will just go to sleep, but every once in a while you%26#039;ll find one that doesn%26#039;t.
Reply:Yes you can. You can even configure the laptop to NOT go to sleep when the lid is down. It%26#039;s all in the control panel, power options :)
Reply:yes you can and they laptop could stay on or go to sleep depending on what its properties is set to.
Reply:yep it just turns the screen off.
Reply:yep no probs...... my sony stays awake, but my toshiba goes into sleep mode.... which it wont waken from. these settings can be easily changed..... and thanks for reminding me - im on the toshiba right now and gonna change it while i remember...,. thanks
Reply:It will go into sleep mode. The screen blacks out like when you have turned it off.
Reply:A lot of people do just that but I really believe that you should get into the proper habit of shutting down in the usual way so that the system goes through self analysis to check that all is OK just as it does when you start up. For some reason, I suppose people just close the laptop for laziness and thinking it will be quicker to get going again when they lift the lid up again. You can%26#039;t do better than get into the right (perhaps old fashioned habits) of turning on and off properly and then turning off at the mains - think energy conservation but more importantly think safety!!
Reply:Diane darling I am interested in this question in the event that you are already on a laptop right now why haven%26#039;t you attempted to answer your own question? As by posting this question you%26#039;re abusing yahoo answers. Each moment that passes creates the ideology that either you are a lazy self-confessed egomaniac or simply require the attention of yahoo users in order to massage your ego leading to you becoming a self-obsessed specie. As a member of the ITAC (information technology appreciation club) I am insulted and flabbergasted by the idleness of some of the yahoo users and you are one member who is a contradiction of what society is built on today.
