My laptop computer is stuck in a "logging out" mode...i am guessing this is a virus...how can i fix this??

Do you mean it keeps logging you out of your User?

If so then boot your computer into Safe Mode and rune full scans with your anti-virus (like AVG) and anti-spyware (like SpyBot - Search and Destroy)

have you tried holding in the power button for between 5 - 10 seconds so the computer switches off then trying to reboot

this doesn%26#039;t sound like a virus. i highly recommend going to www.windowsupdate.com and check to see if there are any updates available.

when you go to this site install the activex plugins if it asks you to. also, when asks always choose %26quot;custom%26quot; and make sure that you select all available updates. then continue going back to that site even after rebooting to make sure that you get every possible update.

also make sure that you have an antivirus program running, updated, and scanning your computer regularly.

i highly recommend AVG Free as a good alternative if you have nothing right now. a free download can be found at free.grisoft.com.

most likely these things will keep your computer running smoothly and will even fix your problem.

let us know how it goes!
Reply:If your laptop is in suck a critical situation then the problems may be:

1) you may loads of software installed onto it...that makes it very slow and it even has effect on your internet~so machine cannot bear such big loads while it allowes to work even....

2) your desktop would have loads of files on it....theres a limit of 50 files on it and that includes your software shortcuts, different folders and the basic my computer, documents and recycle bin...

As if it is the Vista OS then you can fix it using your recovery disc and re-format your laptop....so that brings it back as it was when you got it brand new....

After it starts working, I prefer run a monthly or weekly free online virus scan from the housecall65.trendmicro.com....

it depends on how much time you wanna spare on it as virus time depends number space you may have on your HDD...

generally its between 1 and 2 hrs....

hope it helps and you get your laptop back to normal....

Note: Please rank my answer and if you want to then make a best answer even...

thnks a million...god bless ur pc
Reply:THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A VIRUS OR SPYWARE!!!! I have experienced this freezing moment once in awhile in my new laptop that is running Windows Vista Home Premium. This incident happens whenever you try to restart or completely turn off your pc. It will go clear your desktop first then try to log out before it shuts down. I strongly believe it%26#039;s a Vista problem because I didn%26#039;t experience this same glitch on my old laptop that is running Windows XP. The worst you can do is to hold down the power button for a few seconds just like one of the answers that you got earlier. Windows need to shut down your system properly by closing all the applications and programs that are running in the background. By holding down the power button to force it to shut off, you are actually damaging your Windows Operating System. Every time you do this, you are corrupting your operating system and eventually lead to total destruction which will lead you to reinstall your operating system again. Please wait awhile and let Windows shut down your system properly. It is only recommended to hold the power button after you have waited long enough and it is still frozen in a %26quot;logging out%26quot; mode. This just happened to me yesterday. I waited fpr 3 hours but to no avail, it was still stuck in the %26quot;logging out%26quot; mode.
Reply:This Once happened to me

When

I uninstalled an old AVG 7.0

Installed Mc Afee

After Thorough Scan

After a restart

I would Login %26amp; within seconds, it would logoff

CPU usage remained 100%

Unfortunately, I had not installed System Restore utility that came with motherboard CD

That wasted a lot of my time

No more

I now restore it to my previous configuration in an hour.

If this is ur case,

then reinstall or restore

Repair might not help much

U might end up wasting more time.

Still some other possibilities

Free up Disk Space on that drive where pagefile.sys exists

It could exist on multiple drives (Virtual Memory)

Maybe ur File System is not having free space on that partition

So OS has become slow.

Try AVG 8.0 antivirus
