Nvidia & ati respective pros & cons?

i heard frm someone say dat nvidia focus on speed or fps and ati focus on image quality.. is it really true???

not so much focus, it used to be the case that ati had better image quality in cards from similar lines, but recently theres very little difference, Quite simply, if you have the money to burn, go nvidia, if your on a budget, go ati, generally an nvidia card will perform better, but in some cases you can crossfire two ati cards for the same price for better performance (by about 2-5%, not really worth the hassle, good for bragging rights) for the most part nvidia have better drivers. exception, for a laptop, go ati, they still support a lot of their laptop graphics cards while nvidia support none and you have to get third party drivers that may or may not work
Reply:from my experience and personal tests of multiple products from each company neither company has pros and cons but rather strong points in different areas.





Nvidia has really drivers and excellent software support. i have found that their products depend heavily on the quality of the driver.





ATI has extremely beefy hardware however their drivers leave something to be desired. their products often go months at a time needing serious stability updates. when they do release new versions however new capabilities and power is often realized from old equipment.





about 5 years ago i would have said ATI all the way because Nvidia lagged behind for a while. now, i would tell you to go with the one that fits your budget because they are pretty equal.
