My computer turns on but doesn't boot and the monitor doesn't turn on?

I think i may have some kind of virus on my computer.

At first it started out with just the screen flashing, but now it has gotten worse. When I turn the computer on the green and red lights on the box (tower) stay on constantly and the monitor does not turn on, even for a second. So i cant see the first bit of startup on the screen (or anything for a matter of fact).

I am (was) running Windows XP with service pack 3.

Please HELP ME!!! :(

graphics card or power supply fried

or have you made sure that your cables are correctly plugged in to the tower.
My computer turns on but doesn%26#039;t boot and the monitor doesn%26#039;t turn on?
If the monitor doesn%26#039;t even load of a second, then that might be your problem. Check the connections and if you have another monitor plug that inot the computer to see if that%26#039;s what%26#039;s causing the problem.
Reply:The monitor doesn%26#039;t turn on or it turns on and you can%26#039;t see anything on it?

ok we%26#039;ll try to see if it%26#039;s the monitor or not.Restart it,count to five in a normal pace, and then press F8 on your keyboard,if it will show something then,it%26#039;s not your monitor.I%26#039;ll stay here, let me know what happens.

It could be a virus.Try what I just said,if you can get it in safe mode, you can run a virus scan.

If it%26#039;s still under warranty, take it back where you got it.I%26#039;d say the motherboard went bad.If it was the hard drive, your monitor would still work.That%26#039;s why nothing is working at all,the hard drive won%26#039;t boot and the video won%26#039;t work, the MOBO went bad.
Reply:You may have hit a button on the monitor that puts it in an incompatible mode. There is probably a %26quot;Reset%26quot; default button on the monitor...find it and use it. If this doesn%26#039;t work, go back and completely check over the connections on your computer. It might be something simple, but it could also be a fried PSU.
Reply:if it only gets to the boot screen or to windows loading its because it forgot its operating system run your recovery disc cuas it always checks your disc first
Reply:you should meet your gaurantee superviser for your monitor it seems that your monitor has JUNCTURED and every time you get it turned on the life would be decrease.I%26#039;ve been experienced sth. like that ...trust me!:-D
Reply:|What type of monitor is it? Is it a cathode ray, or an LCD? The flashing light could signify that something physically happened to the monitor which caused the fluorescent tubes to go out (if it%26#039;s an LCD.) See if you can get another monitor to test out on that computer. If the new monitor works, then something is definitely wrong with the other one.
