.......are there any free programs?

I recently got an acer notebook, it come's with windows vista and I got a trial offer for microsoft office which I really liked.

I want to install a progam that will allow me to write articles and also have the design aspects for things like desk top publishing and graphics. Am I looking at two different programs?.

Is it possible to get free downloads?

Right now it looks like all I have is text documents. and I'm afraid to do to much on the microsoft office as my trial period has expired and I'll loose data.?

Thanks for any help

Reply:Try OpenOffice from Sun.

It is free and supports most of everyday Office use, also it reads/writes in office file extensions if you need to.
Reply:Try www.openoffice.org it's free, not a trial
Reply:u should just use it to the best of ur ability then just buy microsoft office
Reply:You can use Open Office to create and edit Microsoft Office documents for free: http://www.openoffice.org/

Paint.Net is a good free image creation and editing program for producing graphics: http://www.getpaint.net/
Reply:you can get open office.org for free, its ms office compatable too. if you feel brave you can get ms office 2007 free from the torrent sites((its illeagal but does work)).
Reply:What you are looking for is open-source software. In your case I'd take a look are OpenOffice to replace Microsoft Office and GIMP as a graphics program.

Both are free.
