Is my laptop overheating?

I'm currently using speedfan and everest ultimate (not at the same time).

Speedfan says both of my cpus are running at approximate 42C

Everest Ultimate says they are in the upwards of 60C

I'm just browsing the internet by the way. Should I trust speedfan?
Is my laptop overheating?
yes!

you should be careful those things can catch on fire!

and my brother had to get a new battery!
Is my laptop overheating?
that doesn't seem too hot to me... my macbook pro cpu gets up to 90C sometimes.
Reply:No, speedfan may read 15 C off, you need to compensate.

Try coretemp, it will be same as Everest.

Laptop CPU temp is fine, hot above 80C (core sensor)

Limit is usually 100 to 105 C (spec sheets)
Reply:Yes, most computers/laptops have built in cooling systems, this along with speedfan will keep your laptop safe and cool.
Reply:ya.. plus as long your pc dont get in fire.. it fine,,

normal laptop like my will go over 80 or 90.,..but keep it cool will run everything smoother
Reply:Never trust speedfan %26amp; everest or anything that tell u your cpu temp.

It is common to that laptops get overheated when used for gradual amount of time even tasks like surfing the web can make your cpu temp. rise

to avoid such thing always use computers in a room where a air-conditioner is present that is the only thing you can do...
Reply:trust http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

=)

even at 60C is not so much of an overheating. I know people who have computers that runs at 80C and goes fine.

40C-60C is healthy
Reply:yes
Reply:Are you placed your computer in an air conditioned room? Then don't worry about its processor temperature and all. Usually these soft wares are making some alerts like that, just to show that we are on work.
