This happened before but I dont remember how I fixed it. The computer is a Window XP, HP Pavillion mx70 and only occasionally it will read disks. I even tried those cleaners for it (CD with bristles) but it wont read that either. What can I do besides buy a new computer?

You dont NEED a new PC....you need a new drive....they are relatively simple to install.....go out and choose one to your liking and rock on! You can get a burner as cheap as 30 bucks these days if you want to step up to a more functional drive.

Most probably your Disk drive could have crashed or done. You purchase a new one. Also whenever you are asking some questions like this please try to mention about the life span of the device and the brand name.
