How can you tell the size of the hardrive in your computer by this i mean 3.5" or 2.5"?

Also whats the difference between 3.5" and 2.5"??

Most desktops are 3.5 and laptops are 2.5.

the only way to fit a 2.5 inch hard drive in a desktop is to use a adapters ( i think you would need two of them one for the power and one for the data) and they are not cheap or easy to find





2.5 inch drives also cost more per gb than a 3.5 does
Reply:Sasha is right on the numbering; 2.5" small enough for a laptop while 3.5" has more physical room to have better performance allowance requiring more electricity available for a desktop.





2.5" happens to be thinner; besides laptop/desktop difference they are electronically identical; barring IDE or SATA differences.





You have to either physically measure the width or obtain the model number and search it.
