NON SYSTEM DISK ERROR, please help?

My computer is a Compaq and when I try to start it up my computer says "non system disk or desk error, replace and hit any key". So I checked all the USB places and the flobby disk drive and the CD drives and they were all empty, and it still shows up. What should I do? And if it has something to do with a BIOS thing, what is that and how do I get there? (Please be specific, I don't know much about computers.) Thanks a ton! :)

Check to see if you have an MP3 player plugged in or an external drive , jump drive etc. This is common when you have something removable plugged in. Usually always a drive of some sort. Mp3 players would be recognized as a mass storage drive .

Reply:Cool.. 1st check all your i/p and o/p cords( cords connecting keyboard, mouse and monitor). If you have an operating system (like XP or vista) then check whether your computer starts automatically! Then there is no problem with your OS. If this situation exists just call the hardware engineer to open and check your system...Then ask him to re install the OS. Even if probs persist call compaq customer support center!!!
