Because people are willing to pay for it.
Why the procesors Intel QuadCore Q6600 is so much expensive?
Mainly because the chip is still somewhat new and costly to make. The more cores you put on a chip, the more expensive it will be to manufacture it.

expensive comparted to what?!?!? try pricing the intel quadcore qx9650 ..over $1000 the 6600 is only $230
Reply:It's new and fast. I still remember when Pentium 4 3Ghz was release, it's pretty expensive, you can buy a whole new pc on it's price. Anyway, this quadcore has four cores equivalent to buying 4 separate single core processors. That's why.
Reply:It isn't really very expensive at all. In the UK where electronics prices are expensive its only 拢130. Now compare to other quad core processors and you will see that it is an amazing deal.
Reply:It is only $200. A Really fast quad core for $200 is not expensive. It also supports G0 stepping for easy and stable overclocking.

AMD Quad core is about $200 too - the cheapest AMD quad core. IT is no where near as fast as the Q6600 or Q93XX
