Why my PC takes a long time to start?

When I press the power on, indicator lights up, fan kicks in but it takes about 4 to 5 minutes before it beeps and shows the post (power on self test). afterwards everything is fine. I am using Asus P5N32-E motherboard, 2gb RAM, 256mb 7100GS vcard, 450 PSU and a Pentium 4 3ghz processor.

Hope I can get a hint what is happenin with my tech... Thanks

Your motherboard or RAM is defective. Replace the RAM to confirm the trouble. If the problem continues, you've to service the motherboard.
Reply:I think there is a mess up in the BIOS settings. Try to go and change everything to default. Installed programs can slow down the OS start up but not the POST. Possible hardware failure?? Was it always like this? You could try to upgrade the BIOS. Asus mobos come with the BIOS update software. Check the cables inside the case. If you added some extra hardware recently then maybe the 450W PSU can't handle it/them. Strip down the PC to the basic and keep adding the extra cards to see if it works
Reply:NOTHING PROBLEM.......... JUST CHANGE BIOS SETTING AND ENJOY YOUR PC'S SPEED:::::::::::::::::
Reply:Try and re-install Xp (or whatever u have) and that should do the trick but if u dont wana install stuff go to START%26gt; RUN%26gt; and typr "MSCONFIG". When u have done that then u should see a startup tab go through the list and get rid of any that are not needed (Non microsoft such *** quicktime) and all should be well.

Hope it helps
Reply:get more ram(random access memory) or overclock your computer just a little
