Whenever I click on Start>Run and type in cmd...?

my computer suddenly closes all windows and shuts down automatically. What seems to be the problem?

I guessing your not giving it the shutdown command... Erm try running cmd.exe by going to My Computer and go to your C: Drive. Go to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe





Double click it and run Command Prompt that way. That shouldnt happen and you should scan for viruses/trojans/etc. I suggest AVG 8 Free. free.grisoft.com or download.com

..virus.. try to login in safe mode ( press f8 after your system restart a while ).. then scan your pc with your antivirus which on your CD.
Reply:To fix it, right click on My Computer then properties Advaned System Settings. Go to Advanced tab and click Environment Variables. In text list under system variables, double click variable named "Path". Add text "C:\Windows;C:\Windows\system32" in variable value. Restart your computer after all done
Reply:Hi, it can be spyware or virus of if it works for a while then shuts down, It might be overheating or power supply failure.


Check the system fan and CPU fan.


Pull out all the power socket from CD-ROM and other device except HDD and give it a go and see what will happen.

Reply:You can try "cmd /D". That will let you ignore autorun commands. I've never seen it, but it should be possible for someone to put the shutdown command on autorun. If that doesn't do it, you should do a virus check or reinstall Windows.
Reply:Most probably this is due to some malfunctioning Driver. restore your Computer to some previous good restore point through System Restore. It is not a virus. I have faced this problem. It happened when I updated some Driver.
